REASON FOR LOSS:
Started from Brest at 18.30 hrs, bjective Liverpool. Aircraft crashed on top of a hill and was smashed to pieces. Local reports state that the fuel tanks were empty and there was no smell of fuel. Aircraft heard circling with engine trouble, prior to crash. All the crew wore the EK II (Iron Cross) second class ribbon. Markings: H in black, outlined in red, also repeated on wing tips. Crest; grey and black eagle standing on projected map of England attacking it with claws and beak. England marked in red with white cliffs, sapphire sea and pale blue sky. The whole outlined by black and white shield. Aircraft made by Dornierwerke Friedrichshafen in 1939.
Armament: six MG 15. Ten 50 kg bombs lying near wreckage, fitted with No.15 fuses and whistles. Some 1 kg incendiaries were also found.
Engines: Bramo, built by Brandenburgischer Motorenwerke, Berlin, Spandau.
