REASON FOR LOSS:
Escort mission (Medway) for Dorniers which were tasked to attack convoy which has sailed from Medway. Shot down in combat by P.O. Gray of No.54 Squadron. Lt. Schauff bailed out but his parachute failed. Aircraft crashed at 70 – 80 Byron Avenue, Margate. Dived into roadway, severing gas and water mains. Pilot had one victory, a Hurricane on the 8th June, 1940, no location.
