REASON FOR LOSS:


This aircraft was shot down by P/O R. P. Stevens DFC in a Hawker Hurricane of No.151 Squadron during attack on Birmingham. Crashed and burned out South of Bicester, Oxfordshire.

A.I.(g) Report 182/8 states the following; Ju 88A-1 crashed at 23.05 hours on 10.04.41 at Murcote. Oxon. Map reference; L0505. Identification markings not accertainable. Works No. 4203 made by Dornier Werke, Junkers licence in August 1940. Engines Jumo 211B made by Junkers of Dessau. Only one engine number accertainable vis. 7208. Aircraft crashed as a result of fighter action. Three .303 strikes found in the tail. The aircraft broke up on impact and was badly burnt. Only two MG15’s were found, the positions of which were not accertainable. The remains of two external bomb racks also found, as well as two small pieces of armour. Crew 4 all killed.

The Junkers is believed to have cart-wheeled across the field ending up at the edge of the hedge line where it burnt out.
